Peter Wiggers

Hi, I’m Peter.

I’m a cloud and platform engineer from Amsterdam. I studied civil engineering at TU Delft, where you learn that a structure is only as good as the ground it stands on. I’ve spent the thirteen years since applying that to IT: Kubernetes platforms, cloud landing zones and security programmes for banks, logistics, energy, healthcare and government.

Most of my work happens where engineering meets the people paying for it. I translate between the two, push back when a requirement doesn’t serve anyone, and usually pick the boring option that still works at 3 a.m.

I write here about what I keep running into: resilience without needless complexity, Kubernetes that pays its way, security and compliance that engineers don’t hate, and how to put AI into regulated systems responsibly.

Off the clock, I live in Amsterdam with my wife, our two kids and a labradoodle. Together they’re the most demanding users of my home network, and the only ones who never file a ticket.

I’m also a long-distance runner with a soft spot for ultra trails. I’m not chasing a finish time or a pace. I just run comfortably for hours through beautiful nature, and it’s the only time I look at the ground without wondering what’s underneath.
